Week of 12/9-12/13

Periods 1 and 4:

  • Act 3 of The Crucible (with notes on characters, quotations, and themes, especially relating to Mary Warren, John Proctor, Judge Danforth, and Rev. John Hale) are due Monday 12/9
  • Act 4 due Tuesday.
Beginning Crucible/McCarthyism research project Wednesday.


Periods 3 and 5: Working on Definition essay writing.
  • Topic choice due Monday (Period 5) or Tuesday (Period 3)
  • Rough Draft due Monday, 12/16.
  • Final Draft due online before the start of vacation.

 1.    How might the statement, “It’s winter in here yet” from John Proctor symbolize his and Elizabeth’s marriage?
 
2.    Why hasn’t John told the court Abigail said there is no witchcraft? What is Elizabeth’s reaction?  (What does she think of John as a result?)

3.    What gift does Mary Warren give Elizabeth? Where did it come from and who would know about it?

4.    What does Mary Warren mean when she says, “I saved her life today!”?  What does Elizabeth realize when Mary says this?
