Week of 4/28-5/2

Period 1: We will be completing related poetry/prose readings from the 1920s to get a sense of various styles of writing as well as views of that period through literature. Reading Matthew J. Bruccoli's analysis of issues of time and the American Dream in The Great Gatsby.

Monday: William Carlos William's "The Red Wheelbarrow" and Zora Neale Hurston's "How it Feels to be Colored Me"
Tuesday:  "America" by Claude McKay, View of Toledo by El Greco.and e e cummings "O sweet spontaneous"
Wednesday: Reading Matthew J. Bruccoli's analysis of issues of time and the American Dream in The Great Gatsby.

Final Character/Scene Assignment for The Great Gatsby is due on Friday, 5/2.

Period 3: Topics for Narrative Essays due on Tuesday 4/29. We will begin drafting Narrative essays in class. Rough Draft is due Friday 5/2. Final Draft is due Thursday 5/8.

  • Period 3 computer lab room 107 Thursday and Friday of this week.

Period 8: Topics for Narrative Essays due on Tuesday 4/29. We will begin drafting Narrative essays in class. Rough Draft is due Monday 5/5. Final Draft is due Thursday 5/8.

  • Period 8 room 125 computer lab in Media Center Wednesday and Thursday of this week.




Period 7: Chapter 7 of The Great Gatsby is due on Tuesday, 4/29. Chapter 8 is due on Thursday 5/1. We will be finishing the book for Monday 5/5 and discussing the outcome and themes.
