Periods 1 and 8: Introduction into project comparing The Crucible to McCarthyism and Miller's purpose in writing this play. Begin research in and out of class. Recommended are videos from that time period, which can be found by doing a Google video search for the topics of research.
Period 4: Literature circle roles for The Scarlet Letter. Ch. 14-17 due Thursday. Ch. 18-20 due Monday. Ch. 21-23 due Wednesday. Online (e-text) versions of books available if searched for and useful for discovering symbolism in word repetition.
Periods 5 and 7: Introduction to the course. Beginning work on first essay.
