Periods 1 and 4:
Reading and discussion of Thoreau's Walden in class and preparation for essay writing. Topics we will cover include discerning the main goal/task purpose behind the essay and how to independently determine paragraphing for writing assignments.
Quotation Choice due by Thursday.
Rough Draft is due Monday, 3/ 10 (period 1) and Tuesday 3/11 (Period 4). We will be peer editing and all rough drafts must be the best work a student can provide so that students will receive feedback and suggestions for improvement on their best efforts.
Periods 3 and 8:
Beginning unit on Argument/Research and Cause/Effect writing. Students will be discussing arguments and evaluating them on effectiveness and research as we prepare to complete our first research project.
Period 7:
We will be reading the rest of Ellen Foster this week. Chapter 13 is due for Tuesday. Chapter 14 for Wednesday. Chapter 15 we will read in class. Students need to be taking notes to help them answer the essay task as they read. We will be in the computer lab room 107 on Friday to begin writing of this essay.
