Week of 3/31-4/4

Periods 1 and 4:

Monday: We will be finishing the protest mini-unit that we began on Friday. Students will be handwriting an in-class essay (students may use a laptop if desired or able without penalty) on the subject of protest, using the three pieces given them and the graphic organizer completed for homework. The essay will only take one class period.

Thursday: Chapter 4 and following assignment due: Choose one of the main characters in this chapter (Nick, Gatsby, Wolfshiem, or Daisy). Use whatever artistic or written means at your disposal to show what we learn about this character and who he/she is as a person from this chapter.

Friday: Chapter 5 Activity. Chapter 6 due Monday (Period 1) or Tuesday (Period 4).



Period 3:
Freakonomics research is due Monday. Bring materials for your research cause/effect essay to class. We will be creating an outline of what you are writing for your rough draft. Rough Draft is due Wednesday, 4/2. This must include your works cited page as well as your essay.

On Monday the Registrar of Voters will be coming to class to help students register to vote. Please bring either a valid driver's license or the last four digits of your social security number in order to register.

  • We will be in the Library Computer Lab Rm 125 Thursday 4/3 for revision work on your essays.
  • We will be in the Room 107 Computer Lab on Friday 4/4 for revision work on your essays.
  • We will be in the Room 107 Computer Lab on Tuesday 4/8 for revision work on your essays.
  • We will be in the Room 107 Computer Lab on Wednesday 4/9 for revision work on your essays.
Final draft due Wednesday, 4/9 at 11: 59 pm on turnitin.com.


Period 8:

Period 7:
Background research on your topic for the 1920s is due Monday. We are also collecting nonperishable food items next week for the student government food drive if students wish to contribute.

We will begin reading The Great Gatsby this week. Questions and chapters have already been assigned and students must remember to keep and bring these to class so they can participate.

Reading Chapter 1 on Wednesday. Questions due Friday.
