Week of 2/23 through 2/27

Period 1:
We will begin reading The Great Gatsby on Monday. Readings will be completed in class. If you are absent, plan to stay afterschool with me to make up the time reading/discussing the text. Independent reading assignment will be given at some point during this week.

Homework for Wednesday: Get five book recommendations and record the following: book title, author, where/from whom you got the recommendation (family member, friend, website, etc.) and one sentence about the recommendation/book.

As of Thursday we have completed Chapter 1 of The Great Gatsby and begun Chapter 2.

Book choice for Independent Reading Assignment is due FRIDAY 2/27 (the main homework while we read The Great Gatsby in class will be this independent reading at home with response blogs)


Period 4:
Scarlet Letter Symbolism project is due Wednesday 2/ 25.

We will be in the computer lab on Tuesday to work on your Transcendentalism essay. Rough Draft is due Monday 3/2.  Final Draft due Wednesday 3/5.

Wednesday we will begin transitioning to The Great Gatsby.



Periods 5 and 7:

Narrative work in the computer lab Monday and Tuesday. Rough draft due dates are as followings:

Preliminary rough draft (incomplete "rough" draft) due Monday 2/23 for use in the computer lab.

Period 5 Rough Draft (full essay) due Wednesday 2/25.

Period 7 Rough Draft (full essay) due Thursday 2/26

Final Draft Periods 5 AND 7 is due Monday 3/2.
