Period 1:
Graded discussion Tuesday covering Romeo and Juliet, student/teacher generated questions, and any preparation and research you have done. The discussion may continue into the next day if it goes well. It is worth 40 points. Afterwards we will begin our transition towards our final exam unit.
Period 4:
Graded discussion continues Monday to build on ideas brought up on Friday. It is worth 40 points. Afterwards we will begin our transition towards our final exam unit.
Periods 5 and 7:
We will be starting discussion based grading on a variety of debate topics. Students will be given homework to prepare ideas on a topic and then bring these ideas and research to the discussion. This is in preparation for our public speaking unit. The first Homework assignment will be to prepare your ideas on the definition of "patriotism" for Tuesday (period 5) and Wednesday (period 7).
The topic due Tuesday/Wednesday is a definition and discussion of the meaning of "patriotism."
Thursday/Friday the main topic will be labels and slang and/or slurs related to race, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, etc. and identity.
Period 8:
