Week of 1/23 through 1/27

Welcome to the start of the 2nd Semester!


Period 1:

We will be reviewing exam materials and recent assignments. After this students will be working on creating an essay question/prompt for The House on Mango Street. This question/prompt is due Wednesday.

Students are also beginning their preparation and writing for The House on Mango Street inspired vignette as we study and discuss chapters from the book.

Draft of vignette due Monday Jan. 30th.

Shakespeare Speaking competition sign-ups by February 3 (sign-up sheet on Ms. Chevan's office door room 102)



Period 3:

Watching the movie version of Ellen Foster.

Thursday students will begin transitioning to the play The Crucible. Friday students are completing a webquest where they experience what went on during the Salem witch trials and will reflect on this experience as well as summarize information learned about three characters. The link to this interactive website is below:

Webquest (completed) will be collected on Monday.



Period 5:

Starting Expository Writing for semester 2. Intro into the course. First essay assignment given and topic brainstorming, thesis statements, introductions, and conclusions will be the focus. Students must sign up for turnitin.com.

First Essay due Wednesday Feb. 1st.



Period 6:
