Week of 9/23-9/27

Period 1: Notes on The Declaration of Independence for Parts 1 and 2 of the assignment due Monday. Discussion of write up expectations and student group discussion of responses Tuesday. Wednesday will include a journal about independence (open format for creative or formal writing based on student choice) and reading "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin. Connecting the idea of independence to this and to all stories we have read thus far. Declaration of Independence write up due Friday. Grammar quiz retake Friday.



Periods 3 and 5: Peer Review/Editing in small groups Tuesday-Thursday. Narrative essay due Friday by 7:30 am on turnitin.com. Beginning Description/Example work on Friday.

Period 7: Continuing our discussion and study of the Declaration of Independence on Tuesday. Discussing the concepts of "independence" and what it means to be "American" and preparing for our reading of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, to begin next week. Grammar quiz retake moved to Thursday, 9/26 due to my absence last Friday.
