Week of Oct. 20th to 24th

Period 1: We will begin reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn on Tuesday. Much of the first chapters will be read in class. Study guide questions due on days we complete the reading (so, you should be taking notes and writing down answers to the questions as we read).

Chapters 1-4 Worksheet due Thursday.
Chapters 7- 9 Study Guide Questions due Monday.


Period 2: Final Draft of Comparison/Contrast Essay is due Tuesday (end of class). Wednesday, we will begin our transition to Cause/Effect and Research writing. Homework due Thursday is a printed out source of research that would add to one of the two essays we will read in class on Wednesday.




Period 4: Chapters 1-4 are due on Monday. We will begin discussing themes in Huck Finn as well as modeling how to analyze segments of text (quotations) for language and meaning. Chapters 5-8 are due on Tuesday. Chapter 9 and the beginning quotation handout are due on Wednesday. Notes should be taken to follow the study guide (will be used in tracking chapters and for pop quizzes). Chapters 10-13 are due on Friday.

Period 5: Working in the library computer lab on Monday on our research papers. Reminders: the History as a Writer narrative essays are due on Oct. 29th. The writing research papers are due on Nov. 3. Budget time accordingly.
