Week of Dec. 15th through Dec. 22nd

For the time being I am unable to check email from home. Please be aware that this may cause delay in email response.

Period 1: Revised quotations were due Monday. During class Monday we finished the KWL packet, viewed images of Puritans, and discussed our work to help finish our understanding of who and what the Puritans were. Reflection from the Salem webquest (done in class last Wednesday) is due Tuesday (see handout given Wednesday). We will begin reading of The Crucible in class on Tuesday.

Act 1 is being read in class. Hopefully we will be starting Act 2 as well. Reading anything left and finishing the study guide for Act 2 is due after the vacation as homework.

Here is an online version of The Crucible if students wish for one: http://www.hatboro-horsham.org/cms/lib2/PA01000027/Centricity/Domain/339/The%20Crucible%20-%20Arthur%20Miller%20.pdf

Period 2: We are working towards understanding and writing of Definition essays. These essays will be due the day we return from vacation. Time will be given Monday Dec. 21 for peer editing if students wish it. Model essays and in-class work on this assignment will happen throughout the week.

Period 4: Quotations for The Crucible were due Monday. We read some final materials on the Puritans, primary and secondary sources, to prepare for our study of The Scarlet Letter. The Crucible/McCarthyism comparison project is due Friday Dec. 19. We will be reading The Scarlet Letter in class. Homework for the vacation will be to read through chapter 5 of The Scarlet Letter and take notes answering the questions in the margins of the packet and any other notes on symbolism or quotations.

Period 5: Students need to be working on their tutor/self analysis group projects. Also, students have independent project work for the writing center that is ongoing. Time will be given for this as well as student scenario creation for tutoring practice.

Period 8:  Revised quotations were due Monday. During class Monday we finished the KWL packet, as well as worked in the computer lab on an interactive Salem witch hunt webquest. Reflection from the Salem webquest is due Tuesday (see handout given). We will begin reading of The Crucible in class on Tuesday.

Act 1 is being read in class. Hopefully we will be starting Act 2 as well. Reading anything left and finishing the study guide for Act 2 is due after the vacation as homework.
