I apologize for the delay in posting this. I will update for next week soon as well.
Period 1: Final draft of Huck Finn essay was due on Tuesday (along with rough draft and the assignment sheet). We are working on broadening our knowledge of the Puritans and the Salem witch trials in preparation for beginning our reading of The Crucible next week. We will be studying texts written by or about the Puritans and images related to them as well as completing an interactive story about the Salem trials found here: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/features/97/salem/
Period 2: Final draft of research essay is due on turnitin.com by 11:59 pm Thursday. Students can submit early to see originality report and resubmit to overwrite previous submissions if needed. Friday we will begin our study of Definition writing.
Period 4: We finished the reading of The Crucible for Monday and are finishing the movie Thursday. Students' quotation notes and finalized choices are due on Monday. We will begin a mini-project on McCarthyism to close this unit.
Period 5: Projects for the writing center individually and in groups should be nearing completion. We will begin studying scenarios that range from extreme to complex and difficult to manage to finish our tutor preparation. Tutor/Self Analysis study is ongoing and students are responsible for coordinating with their partners and deciding on timing and deadlines. Friday students will be going to Ms. Wuerth's class to practice their skills helping her 11th grade students begin an assignment.
