Week of 3/23 through 3/27

Period 1:

We have finished chapter 5 in The Great Gatsby and the first two sets of responses for your independent reading blogs at this point (3/19). If you are behind or have been absent it is your responsibility to see where you need to catch up from past weekly updates and powerschool notes about completion.

Monday: As of Monday's class we are three pages from the end of chapter 6. If you were absent please plan to make up the reading for next class period.

Tuesday: We have begun reading Chapter 7. Be prepared to continue on Thursday. I will not be in class due to the Open House for the new Amity Writing Center but I will check in to answer any questions and check  on your progress.

Last set of independent reading responses (and finish for your chosen book) are due Wednesday 4/1 (updated to account for upcoming in class essay).

Monday we will begin an in-class essay connecting The Great Gatsby with its cover art by Cugat, some of the most famous cover art in American literature.



Period 4:

Written response connecting the cover art, painting "Hotel Room" by Edward Hopper, and the book is due on Monday.

Chapter 7 reading is due on Wednesday.

Finish the book for Friday.



Period 5:

Final draft of essay is due Tuesday on turnitin.com by 11:59 pm. Printout with rough draft and assignment sheet will be collected in class on Wednesday.

We will begin research technique Tuesday with article readings and research on the documentary Happy.


Period 7:

Period 8:

We have finished chapter 5 in The Great Gatsby and the first few pages of chapter 6, as well as the first two sets of responses for your independent reading blogs at this point (3/18). If you are behind or have been absent it is your responsibility to see where you need to catch up from past weekly updates and PowerSchool notes about completion.

As of Monday we have finished chapter 6. If you were absent, please plan to have the reading completed for next class.
