Week of 4/6 through 4/10

Period 1:
Students will be writing an essay connecting The Great Gatsby to the cover art by Francis Cugat (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b0/Gatsby_1925_jacket.gif)

An outline for this essay is due on Monday 4/6. Students worked on both a thesis and this outline the previous week in class.

The essay will be finished by Thursday 4/9.



Period 4:
We are transitioning to a study of the play Romeo and Juliet. This study will focus on the language of the text as well as the classic nature of the story and its impact on modern times. Much of this will be done in class through reading/acting and viewing of the play.



Period 5:
Research proposal is due Wednesday 4/8. We will be working in class on topics and moving into our second research practice documentary, Freakonomics, to discuss treatment of bias in more controversial subjects/research.


Period 7:
Research proposal is due Thursday 4/9. We will be working in class on topics and moving into our second research practice documentary, Freakonomics, to discuss treatment of bias in more controversial subjects/research.



Period 8:
